Discussion

  • Some sociologists argue that POWER should play a role in a definition of racism. Would you agree or disagree? Why?
  • What other factors, besides power, do you think are important to consider when discussing a definition of racism?
  • Think about your family and upbringing. Think about your peer group, your education, and your life circumstances. Think about the experiences you have had AND those you have not had. What factors have impacted your perspective on racism and HOW have these factors impacted your perspective?

At a minimum, please respond in a paragraph of at least 5-7 sentences to fully address this question.

Discussion

Imagine you are interviewing for a job you really want.

The interviewer asks you the following question: Explain a specific example in which you used critical thinking/problem solving strategies to solve a problem in the real world.

  • What is your answer to the question?
  • Choose one classmates own response to the interviewers question. If you are a job coach, what suggestions would you make to maximize your classmates answer to the interview question?

Topic: Scientific Method and What is Physics?

Thread:  We often discuss science as if the principles dictate nature and that nature behaves according to those principles.  According to Genesis 1, God created the heavens and the earth.  So, everything we are studying in this course is not some principle or law established by God, but it is a principle or a law that mankind has established to model nature and how we believe that Gods creation behaves.

If you visit the Institute of Physics website and look at their definition of physics you will find the following:

The dictionary definition of physics is the study of matter, energy, and the interaction between them, but what that really means is that physics is about asking fundamental questions and trying to answer them by observing and experimenting.

Physicists ask really big questions like:

How did the universe begin?

How will the universe change in the future?

How does the Sun keep on shining?

What are the basic building blocks of matter?

If you think these questions are fascinating, then youll like physics.

The problem with some of these questions is that they are historical in nature.  For example, how did the universe begin?  There is no way to go back and observe the creation of the universe.  Attempts to go back and observe nature lead mostly to intellectual faith and are no more founded than having faith in the revealed, inerrant word that God inspired according to Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.

Describe the scientific method and discuss its validity in determining the theory of how the Universe was formed.  The initial post should be at least 250 words in length.

Assignment Details

Some commonly employed statistical analyses include correlation and regression. In this assignment, you will practice correlation and regression techniques from an SPSS data set.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

  • Review “SPSS Access Instructions” for information on how to access SPSS for this assignment.
  • Access the document, “Introduction to Statistical Analysis Using IBM SPSS Statistics, Student Guide” to complete the assignment.
  • Download the file “Bank.sav” and open it with SPSS. Use the data to complete the assignment.
  • Download the file “Census.sav” and open it with SPSS. Use the data to complete the assignment.

Directions:

Perform the following tasks to complete this assignment:

  1. Locate the data set “Bank.sav” and open it with SPSS. Follow the steps in section 10.15 Learning Activity as written. The SPSS output must be submitted with the problem set answers in order to receive full credit for the assignment.
  2. Locate the data set “Census.sav” and open it with SPSS. Follow the steps in section 11.16 Learning Activity as written. Answer questions 1, 2, 3, and 5 in the activity based on your observations of the SPSS output. Type your answers into a Word document. Copy and paste the full SPSS output including any supporting graphs and tables directly from SPSS into the Word document for submission to the instructor. The SPSS output must be submitted with the problem set answers in order to receive full credit for the assignment.

Physics

Imagine that you want to shoot an apple hanging in a branch with an arrow. You aim the arrow and at the exact time you shoot it, the apple falls from the branch. Will it hit? It should still hit the apple if the air resistance ( wind) is negligible that day. Why will the projectile always hit the falling object it is aimed at if it is fired at the same time the object starts to fall? Think about this problem in terms of projectile motion.

Module 1

In a two-page paper, research how physics is used in a specific profession of your choice. You should identify two physics principles used in the profession as well as explain, in detail, how they are used.

Paper must have a minimum of two sources, use proper spelling and grammar, and follow APA format.

3page Single Space Physics Essay

Visit a science museum, observatory, research institution, etc., or any other place of scientific educational value that is related to physics, and write a report about your field trip. Here are some suggested local venues:  Griffith Observatory (http://www.griffithobs.org/)

The format of the report is as follows: MS Word document or PDF, saved as YournameFieldtrip.doc. It MUST have a minimum length of THREE full pages of text in times font (size 12 pt), single line space with margin no more than 1″ on the top, bottom, right and left. Please discuss what you have learned from the trip (you may want to concentrate on one or two topics that are of the most interest to you).

Physics Discussion Post

Create a thread must be at least 250 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge.

Topic: Newtons Second Law

Thread: You encounter force daily. Find an example of a force from within the Old or New Testament and discuss the example.  Be sure to provide the scripture reference.
